How to Apply for a Working Holiday Visa for Canada?

The application process will take time and involves the following steps.

STEP 1:

The first stage entails creating a profile and submitting it to the Canadian government in accordance with the following criteria:

  • Create a profile on CIC’s official website using your bank information.
  • Answer the following eligibility test questions: Are you a student? Do you offer employment? Which nation do you call home? Citizenship? Where is your permanent home?
  • The system will determine whether or not you are eligible for the visa; if you are, you will be directed to the profile-creation page.
  • Complete the profile form with all mandatory fields.
  • Submit the profile application and await approval.

All applicants must complete their profile within 60 days of the starting date.

STEP 2:

Step 2 involves entering into the pool of different categories. You must apply again if you are in the pool for one season and still don’t get an invitation.

STEP 3:

You must verify your account for any invitations you might have received. The candidates are selected at random, so you can assess your odds of being chosen.

It is entirely your decision to accept or decline the invitation. You must decide within 10 days of receiving the invitation. The rejection will not eliminate you from the applicant population, and you will still have the opportunity to receive another invitation.

If you receive multiple invitations from distinct pools, such as Young professionals or working Holiday visas, you may choose any of them.

After accepting an invitation, you will have 20 days to register for a work permit.

STEP 4:

You will have 20 days to apply for the work permit, which is a relatively brief period of time, so you must begin the application process as soon as possible, gather all the required documents, and answer the following questions.

  • There will be an employment number inquiry field; you must enter the number “A999999”
  • Select “No” when asked whether your employer paid the employer Compliance fee.
  • In the employer address field, enter “not applicable”

Once the queries are answered, a list containing the information of the supporting documents you must submit will appear; these may include;

  • Clean police certificates
  • CV/Resume
  • Medical Exams
  • Passport
  • Digital photograph
  • Submit a proof document stating Recognized organization is assisting you with your working Holiday Visa.

STEP 5:

This step involves paying the application charges, which is as follows;

  • International Canada Experience (IEC) Fee – CAD $100
  • Open work permit fee – CAD $100
  • Biometrics Fee – CAD $85.

STEP 6:

Once your application letter is approved, you will receive a Port of Entry (PoE) letter to Canada. You will need to keep the letter with you the entire time you stay in Canada. You will also need to keep the following documents with you once you get to Canada;

  • Passport
  • PoE letter
  • Proof of enough financial resources for up to three months to stay in Canada (CAD $2,500)
  • Proof of health insurance in Canada
  • A return ticket or enough money to book the return flight to your home country.
