Ph.D. position summary/title: Ph.D. scholarship in DTU Health Tech

Donating blood is the only way to replenish supplies after severe bleeding from an injury or operation. However, there are risks and limitations associated with blood transfusions, the most significant being the need to type and match blood before transfusing. And since blood has such a short shelf life, it’s impossible to stockpile a lot of it for use in sudden catastrophes like earthquakes or plane crashes. The development of HIV in the 1980s is just one example of how blood transfusions might facilitate the introduction of new viral diseases.
